Our New Home

We are finally settled in our new home in Irmo, South Carolina. It's absolutely beautiful here, yes it's hot, but it was hot in Charlotte, so I can deal with it the same way I did there...stay inside and complain a lot. Ha! We've met some really nice people down here and are all very happy. It honestly feels like home, which is comforting. I do miss all of my Charlotte friends, but they are not that far of a drive away, so hopefully we will all stay in touch.

Braiden is adjusting to school and his new surroundings much better than expected. He LOVES his school and has made lots of new friends. He even commented that he keeps waiting for something bad to happen because everyone is so nice. He joined the chorus at school (it was that or general music, which he hates, so he picked chorus). He ended up loving it and just found out yesterday that he will be cast as "head elf" in the Christmas musical, which is the part that he really wanted, so that practice will be starting soon. He is also in Beta Club, which is all new to me, but it's sort of a like a National Honor Society for those of us from the north. He gets to go to a convention at Myrtle Beach in December, which means I get to go too, since I volunteered to chaperone. He's also doing safety patrol two days a week and will get to do the morning announcements in February. All of these fun things about 5th grade and he's happy as a clam. First grade card was all A's as well, so he's keeping up with his studies too. Baseball will finally be over next week. Two games left, which hopefully will not be rained out like the last three have been.

We are heading up to Ohio in a few weeks for Thanksgiving, visiting family, doing Thanksgiving and Christmas with them, taking in an Akron football game (that should be exciting since they haven't won a game yet this year) and going to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, something Braiden has been bugging me to do since I can remember. We always pass it on our drive up to Ohio in the summer and he ALWAYS asks to go. We wanted it to be a family event, so we had to wait until Brett could go in the fall.

December will be our first Christmas in South Carolina. My wonderful in-laws will come for a visit and then we are taking a family trip to California and Lego Land. I've never been to Cali, so I'm super excited, as is Braiden, of course. So lots of exciting happenings coming up. This is my favorite time of the year with the leaves changing, cool weather, visiting family and Christmas right around the corner.

Now, I just need to get a job and all will be right in our little corner of the world...
